Internet security and remote access solutions
ISN Solutions ensures your network is secure from internet related threats through the implementation of up to date antivirus software and a high standard firewall. A firewall also facilitates secure remote access.
  • Antivirus sofware
    Antivirus software is used on the network to prevent and detect any malicious software or suspicious behaviour posing a threat to the network. Updates are scheduled to ensure the system is up to date and regular scanning is carried out to ensure the network is secure.

  • Firewall
    A firewall is a dedicated device to prevent unauthorised external access to the computer network and faciliate secure, encrypted communication between sites or provide remote access from other locations for authorised users.

  • Remote Access
    Secure remote access can be granted for authorised users through the use of a firewall. This provides a secure means for users to work while away from the office and even from home. Firewalls can also be used to create a secure tunnel between one or more office locations to enable secure information sharing. 

    Remote access enables users to:

    • Access patient files

    • Check schedule

    • Check urgent results or letters

    • Dictate letters

    • Single centralised data location accessed by all users to avoid multiple copies of data and allow all users access to the current data.

Backup and storage solutions
Business today relies significantly on data availability, collaboration and management, and ISN can offer you these necessities. We offer solutions to maximise data sharing and minimise the risk of downtime for mission critical environments. We can also expand on your current storage availability with network storage solutions to provide a dedicated device for additional storage requirements created by various medical equipment. Some standards and solutions we implement include:
  • RAID hard drive configuration
    Every server is assembled with hard drives in RAID format. RAID is a system of mirroring (creating a copy) of your server hard drive in real time. In the event of hardware failure the mirrored disk takes over and your work is not interrupted.

  • Tape backup
    In addition to the RAID we install a backup tape drive to every server. The tape backup drive is supplied with a highly capable backup software for scheduled data backups run daily after hours. This enables a daily offsite backup in case of a disaster such as fire or flooding to ensure a secure copy of your data at all times.

  • Network storage solutions
    ISN Solutions can provide various options for dedicated storage devices such as Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Attached Network (SAN) solutions for your network. This may be required when you are creating high volumes of data, or to store large imaging files created by ultrasound equipment, nuclear equipment, ECG equipment, or HRA, OCT, Topcon etc. The dedicated storage device ensures your server is free to deal with other processes and data access, such as access to your practice management software.

Documentation and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP)
ISN Solutions strongly believes in comprehensive documentation for the network, getting information out of people's heads and onto paper. This information includes all network hardware, software, policies and procedures. This greatly assists the preparation of a strong Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and creates a strong base for efficient support.

Disaster Recover Planning (DRP) is the creation of a plan for the network that includes procedures for dealing with unexpected interruptions to the network such as hardware failure, communications failure or natural disaster.

ISN Solutions offers extensive planning and standards as part of disaster recovery planning, some of which include ensuring proper backup and storage solutions are documented, implemented and adhered to. Offsite backups ensure a secure copy of your data at all time and hardware and software is implemented with DRP planning in mind, such as RAID configuration for hard drives.
